愛する詠美さんのエッセイ最新刊です。
「現代」から「小説新潮」にうつって、初めて出た単行本。どんな装丁になるのかなーと思っていましたが、とってもよかったです。「ポンちゃん」はいつも等身大の詠美さんを感じることができるので、カバーの写真でそういう要素がもっと高まったと思い、気に入っています。
詠美さんの日々のことを読むと、とても元気がでます。人生は落ち込む事の連続だけれど、詠美さんから「ビバ自分！」とエールをもらうことができるんです。
それと同時に、いつも「ポンちゃん」を読んで思うんだけれど、詠美さんって本当に生まれながらの小説家だなって感じるんです。あんなに言葉に敏感になって生きているんですね。詠美さんがご実家に帰ったときのかなちゃんのつっこみとかも面白くて、私も仲間にいれてほしいなって思います☆

すばらしい！！言葉の数々。
エッセイだけど、これは、芥川賞ものでありまする。

5.0 out of 5 stars 押し付けない美意識の美, 2006/8/14
相変わらずのスタイル（外見ではなく中身の）を貫く山田詠美は、やっぱり「かっこいい」。
「言葉の小姑」を自負する、というのも面白い。単に「今の日本語は乱れている」と嘆くだけでは決してなく、独自の美意識のふるいにかけて言葉を選別する。
そして、ここが重要なのだが、スタイルも言葉の美意識も、決して他人に押し付けようとはしない。あくまで「ビバ俺様」という意識の中のことである、と自覚している。だから説教臭くないし、上から見ているという視線も感じられない。
それにしても何で山田詠美の描写する食べ物はみんなおいしそうなんだろう？
