1200通あまりの村上さんに返事をいただけたものの1人です。
そのせいもあり発売時は速攻で買いに走りました。
私はカフカ少年のような強さがほしいと真面目なメールを書いたのですが、
ほんとうにとても真摯に返事を返してくださったことがとても印象に残っています。
村上さんという作者の性格、あるいは作品の性格ゆえか、
他の読者さんの意見もいい意味で型にはまらず、とてもおもしろかったり
斬新なものが多くてときには笑えるし、ときには考えさせられます。
改めて人との考えと自分のものを突きつけて、考えを深めることは
大切だなぁと実感しました。

何を隠そう　小生の投稿に村上春樹が答えてくれて　それが載っていることが嬉しい。２０年来のファンであるので　そんなミーハーを自分に許している。それにしても　この村上春樹という人の誠実さは　この少年カフカを読んでいてビンビン伝わってくる。作品について　読者と作者がこのように直接語り合うなどとはまさしく空前絶後である。昔から村上春樹は　作品は発表されると作者の手から離れると言っていたが　その意味が今回良く分かった。是非（カフカを読んだ後で）少年カフカを一読して頂きたい。色んな人が色んな人生を語り　それを村上春樹という当代一の語り部が　優しい眼差しで世に送り出している。

　これはすごい！
　昨年９月に発売された「海辺のカフカ」

　その読者から公式ＨＰに宛てられた１２２０通のメールと、それに対する春樹さんの返事が、少年マンガ風の装幀で一冊の本に仕上げられています。そのほか、春樹さんがＨＰ上で読者に宛てたメッセージや、水丸さんのマンガ、２人で製本所に見学に行ったエピソードなども載せられていて、まさに「海辺のカフカ」をより深く知るための一冊といった感じです。

　読者からのメールは百人百様で、読んでいると「あっ、こんな視点もあるんだな」と新たな発見をもたらしてくれるものがけっこうあります。対する春樹さんの返事も、相変わらずのユーモラスな文章のなかに、どこか「ムムムッ！」と考えさせるような、深い記述が詰め込まれていて、この!読者と春樹さんのやりとりをみていると、思わず「これどんな風に書かれてたっけ？」と書棚から「海辺のカフカ」を取り出して読み返したくなります。
　購読の際にはぜひ脇に「海辺のカフカ」を用意することをおすすめします。
