一話完結なのにストーリーが続いている。
ある地域を取り巻いて出来上がっている話だ。
語り口が優しく、表現が美しかった。
帯には「Sキングをしのぐ」と書いてあったが、私は夏目漱石をちらりと思いだした。

美奥という町を舞台にした５つの短編集．ホラーというよりも民話に近いかもしれません．読んでいて美しい情景が浮かんできたり，どこか懐かしい町を旅しているような気になったり．決してあり得ない話なのに，どこかにこの町が存在するのではないかと思えてくるような不思議なお話です．人と人とのつながり，自然との調和なども優しく，暖かく描かれています．

美奥と呼ばれる土地の過去と現在に纏わるお話です。
どの話も不思議で一筋縄ではいきません。
『草祭』はどんな本かと言われると、まずは読んでみて欲しいとしか言えません。
