遊女の恋と官能、と聞くとどうにも濃くてドロドロしたイメージを受けますが、
この本はいい意味でそういったくどさがありません。
後追い、足抜けと待ち受けるものは同じでも、しんみりさっぱりとした読み口です。
女の誰しもがズルズルと奈落のような恋をしているわけもなく、遊女もまた然り。
何かを諦めて諦めきれず、本当は欲しいけれど縋ることに抵抗を覚えて揺れているような
そんな遊女の姿がこの本では描かれています。

オススメはやはり表題で受賞作の「花宵道中」ですが、その他も捨てがたく。
ただひとつ残念なのは、中に１作携帯用に書かれていたもの？が掲載されており、
他の作品との形式の差（比較的細かく区切られている）ことが気になってしまいました。

しかし想定の美しさも中々、久しぶりにとても楽しめた本でした。

いろいろなところで評判を聞くので、読んでみた。
いやあ、なるほど面白い。
江戸時代の吉原を舞台に、女たちの生態をきちんと描いている。
連作集で、第１話の主役が第２話になっていたり、
ある話のメインのエピソードが別の作品では完全な脇の話になっていたり、
構成がよくできている。
著者はかなり理科的な頭の持ち主ではないか、と思うのだけれど。

吉原に興味があり、何気なく読んでみました。
本屋から帰りパラパラと捲ったが最後、一気に１作目を読了。
静かな文体なのに、底知れぬ力を感じる作品です。
吉原で働く遊女の姿や、時代風景が目の前に浮かびました。
遊女の気持ちが切ないほど伝わり、読んでいて胸が詰まる思いでした。
ここまでどっぷり嵌れる作品は、本当に久々です。

すべての短編が連作になっており、
「ああ、この人はあの人と関連していたのか…」と思わず唸ってしまいました。

短編集ですが、どの作品にも作者の思いが吹き込まれているように感じました。
登場人物のキャラがしっかりと立っていて、読んだ後も数日は余韻に浸れます。

吉原や遊女に興味があり、読書で切なくなりたい大人の女性に向いてる作品。
