初読の作家さんでしたので、なんの先入観もなく読みはじめたのですが、
これがもうすぐにその世界に入り込んでしまい、
一気に読み終えました。

二組の兄弟を「糸」とするならば、雨という道具を使って、
すばらしい布を織り上げた感じ。
話の舞台としてだけでなく、
子どもたちの心の中にもずっと雨が降っているようでした。
雨、なくしては成立しない作品です。

トリックや伏線もすばらしく、
そうだったのか！まさか！そうか！という、驚きの連続でした。
静かなラストがまた、秀逸。
家族を思う気持ちに胸が詰まりました。

　序盤で、「おや」と引っかかるところが、ストーリー全体に引っかかってきます。事実は何か、作者と推理合戦をしても仕方がありませんが、引っかかりがあったことを覚えておくと、多分その違和感が終盤の展開で解決されていくはずです。
　恵まれない境遇の子どもたちが、不遇な条件にあっさり押しひしがれつつあるところが少し残念でした。もっと健気に負けない前向きさを持たせた方が、キャラクターを応援したくなったかもしれません。うまくできたミステリーだと思うのですが、特に新機軸を感じませんでした。雰囲気のある文体は読みやすいと思いました。環境だけは特殊なのに、キャラクターにリアリティーがありすぎて、本当にどこにでもいる普通すぎる性格だったので、感情移入できなかったのかもしれません。。

かなり期待して読み始めました。

複雑に絡み合う事象は、その一つ一つの人間関係をとってみるだけでも奥深く切ない。
また、「なるほど」と思えるミステリーの醍醐味が随所に仕掛けられていて、心地いい。

けれども今作品は最後の最後で結論を焦っているような感が否めなかった。「台風一過」
と言われるように最後はすがすがしく晴れやかに読み終えたかったがそうも行かなかった。
らしいと言えばらしいのですが、もう一声ほしかったと勝手に思ってしまう。

次回作も楽しみに待っています！！
