私がさぬきうどんにはまり始めたのは、この本が元であった。香川県でのみ売られていた本が文庫本になって全国デビュー。さぬきうどんブームの火付け役、うどん巡礼者のバイブルとも言われている。この本を手にした他県ナンバーの人々がうどんを求めて路地をうろうろ迷っている光景に何度も出くわすことになった。読んで面白く、行っておいしい。これはガイドブックか読み物か。どちらにしてもお買い得。これを読まずに香川県入りはできない。

昨年はこの本を手に香川県へ５回足を運びました。２･３ヶ月に１回のペースです。禁断症状が出ると、この本を出して次に行く店を吟味してしまいます。私は携帯用と、人にこの楽しさを人に伝えるべく上げるために常時２冊持っています。
この本に小さく載っている地図と香川県の道路地図でオリエンテーリングが楽しめます。今夜も読んでしまいそうです。
うどん巡礼のための少し小さめのワゴン車を買わなければ！！！

こんな人間にしてくれる本です。

うどん関連のサイトをネットサーフィンで見つけ、香川に初めて行ったのが今年の7月。県内の本屋で「恐るべき」シリーズを見て私のうどんの旅は数100倍充実したものになりました。

そしてまた先週、念願の再訪。秋はうどんの季節。うどん日和。釜揚げが暑苦しくなく、超人気店の外で待たされても寒くない。さあ、皆さん、今こそこの本を片手にうどん巡礼の旅に出ませんか？

帰ってきてからまた毎日読んでいます。単なるうどんガイドを超え、純粋なエッセイとしてもかなり面白い本です。先に刊行された「麺地創造の巻」と並んでお勧めです。
