本はボロボロになるまで読みました。ミュンヘンオリンピックでイスラエル選手がゲリラに殺害された事件に対し、イスラエルが国家として報復のヒットチームを送る。リーダーのアフナー他４人のチームはミッションを遂行するが、思わぬハプニングに見舞われ犠牲を出していく。裏社会の情報屋など国際社会の裏面も覗かされ、結末は・・・。リズム感のある文体はすっと入ってくる感じで訳者がいい。この本が出た頃は、テロなど他国の問題と考えていたが、今は時代が変わったと思える。単なる復讐劇ではなく、悩むリーダーとしての主人公をうまく描いている。主人公の父との関係も興味深い。含蓄ある言葉あり。

落合信彦の”モサド、その真実”を読み、モサドのことがもっとよく知りたいと思ってこの本を読み始めました。”モサド・・”はモサドの優秀さ、ヒーロイックな側面を取り上げていたのでスパイに対するある種の憧れと野次馬的な興味を持って読み始めましたが、良い意味で期待を裏切られました。スパイのミッション遂行にあたっては、モサドがKGB,CIAを凌ぐ優秀なスパイではあっても、スーパーマンではないこと、国家からの指令であっても人を殺害することそのものに対する苦悩、国家に対する疑問などが詳細に描かれており、所謂スパイ物とは一線を画しています。

　当たり前のように”自分の国”が存在し、安全圏にいる我々が戦争はいけない、人の命はかけがえのないものという我々にとって当然の事実は、周囲の国々にいつ滅ぼされるか分からないユダヤ人国家、イスラエルを守ることが最も重要だと考えている彼らの前ではなんら意味を持たないのだと実感した。

　だが、そうした強い信念を持った彼らであっても、人を殺す、仲間が殺される、という人命が失われるという現実に直面していくと徐々に精神が蝕まれていく。国家存続のために多くの人の命や人生が犠牲になっている事をこの本は如実に語っている。
　こなれた訳で非常に読みやすく、翻訳にありがちな読みにくさがまるでないところもさらにすばらしいものにしていると思います。

イスラエルとパレスチナの関係など、
全く無知な私でも、時間の経つのも忘れて
読めた。

ミュンヘンオリンピック虐殺の、
『報復』の話だ。

内容は、とてもリアルに感じて、
表現としては、適切では無いかも知れないが
面白く読めた。

「モサド」って何？
って、いう人に
逆に読んでもらいたい本です。

全然、難しくないですから。
