これは、いままで読んだ本の中でも３本の指に入る奇妙な作品でした。まず、その世界観が目を引きます。例えば開巻早々、主人公のコランが身支度している場面で、彼が拡大鏡に顔を映すと鼻翼のニキビがおのれの醜いさまを恥じて皮膚の下に逃げ込んでしまうし、洗面台の蛇口からはウナギが這い出してくるし、台所の電気オーヴンの調節メモリは『ほぼよろし』と『ちょうどよろし』になってるし、演奏する曲によって様々なカクテルを調合するカクテルピアノなんてのが出てくるし、と、こんな具合にヴィアンの創造する世界は、ファンタジーとも童話とも違う独特の世界になっているんです。

この珍ＳＦ的な、いってみればどことなくユーモラスな世界にヴィアンは唐突に残酷な出来事をからめていきます。大勢の人が簡単に死んでしまうし、ラストの貧しい葬儀の場面等はほんとに痛ましくて胸にせまります。この両極端である諧謔味と残酷さが変な具合にシャッフルされてとてもシュールな印象を受けます。頭で理解するより先に心が反応するような感じでしょうか。
そんな奇妙な世界で三組のカップルの様々な試練が描かれます。物語の終盤へ向けて、陽気な音楽が次第に音を外していくように彼らの運命は悲しみの一途を辿ります。

うう~む、もうヴィアンはこの１作でおなか一杯って感じなのですが、かといって否定する気もない。いいか悪いかと問われれば、６：４でいいという感じでしょうかね。どうにも奥歯にモノがつまった感じだ。隔靴掻痒的ともいえます。とてもビミョー。どちらにせよ、ボリス・ヴィアンという人は、常人離れした芸術家肌の人だったんだなぁと強く思いました。

5.0 out of 5 stars でっちあげの世界で起こる、悲痛な恋愛, 2001/9/18
デューク・エリントンの音楽とかわいい女の子との恋愛以外、世界はすべてどうでもいい。冒頭に言い切ったこの言葉をヴィアンはみごとに小説の中で証明している。全くの空想の美しい世界で繰り広げられる若い3カップルの恋愛。彼女の肺に睡蓮が咲いてしまうというかわいらしい病気が、今まで恋愛のことしか考えなかった彼らの生活を壊していく。すべてが嘘のなかだからこそ、そのせつなさが際立っている。
技師でもあるヴィアンが登場させる奇想天外な機械、実際に妻をとられたサルトルに対してのあてつけなどもおもしろさのポイント。

恋愛小説が好きな方。また、ファンタジーも同時に好きな方。
心が強い方。真っ直ぐに生きている方。
フランス文学が好きな方。映画はプリティウーマンより、アメリだという方。
最近失恋したという方。愛というものを知っている方。
パリに行った事がある方。ピュアなものが好きな方。
ちょっと変わった恋愛小説が読んでみたい方。

｢不思議の国のアリス」の世界観が好きな方。

このどれかに当てはまる方。お勧めです。
この本は、悲痛な恋愛小説です。もし、今恋をして幸せな方は読まないほうがいいかもしれません。
とても心に残る印象的なお話。一度読んだら忘れられない悲惨な病気が出てきます。
しかし、この本には幻想的な空気感みたいなものが漂い「リアル」に感じないのも事実。<B!R>それゆえひたすら美しく、キラキラ光るほど純粋な物語である。
このレビューで興味を持った方。他に素晴らしいレビューを書いている方々がいるのでそれを参考にして下さい。
