思った以上に引き込まれました。２年の歳月があっという間でしたね。
子供の頃にアニメで観て大好きだった記憶があります。でも時とともに内容はすっかり忘れてしまいました。もちろん１５人で漂流して島で生活することは憶えていましたが・・・。

一番印象に残っているのは冬の生活ですね。寒さと厳しさがこちらまで伝わってきます。物語の中で少年達は２度冬を過ごしましたが、冬が近づくとこっちまで「また冬が・・・もう冬が来てしまうのか」と憂鬱になります。マイナス１０度、２０度の世界です。そんな中でも互いの長所を生かしあい、ルールをつくり、勉強にも励んだ彼らはたくましい。また、ジャックの罪の告白、それに対する仲間の対応、ブリアンとドノバンの関係など感動できる部分は多いです。

少年達は困難をプラスに変えてしまった。最後には彼らはいちだんと成長していたのです。勇気、友情、勤勉、思慮、熱心、素晴らしいことがたくさん詰まっています。

非常に有名な児童文学である。少年達が困難や不和、危機を乗り越えて、お互いに信頼しあい団結し成長していく様は、男女を問わずワクワクするだろう。きっと基地作りや冒険ごっこにもおおいに役にたつだろうと思う（最近はそう言う遊びをする子はいるのだろうか？）。

この年になって初めて読むと、民族的な偏見や奴隷制の名残がある設定、侵入者と命がけで戦うことへのためらいのなさには違和感を覚えてしまった。さらに「この子達はきっと半裸で裸足の生活ではなく、文明的な寄宿舎生活の延長上で、二年間を過ごしたに違いない。毎日ネクタイも結んでいたかもしれない」と思わせるような、英国的な規律に満ちた雰囲気もある。

ともあれ、そう言う印象を物ともしないほどのドラマとしての力がこの作品にはある。それが不朽の名作として残った理由だと強く思える。

その名のとおり、十五人の少年達が、島へ流れ着いて生活していく物語。
その中で、少年たちがコミュニティーを形成し、反発したり助け合ったりし
ながら、また悩みを抱えたりしながら、成長していくさまに好感が持てます。
登場人物たちはみなしっかりしていて、強く正しく生きていくという感じが
します。
読みやすく面白い作品です。
