フィジー沖で沈んだヨット。そのヨットに隠された秘密とは・・・
ヨットの上で生を受けた、船越の娘、陽子。生まれる運命でなかった陽子と共に、再びフィジーへ。
フィジーでヨットと共に沈んでいった女性、朝代は・・・

沈んだヨットの謎は知るべきだったのか、知らないほうがよかったのか？
最後の結末には衝撃と共に感動すること間違いなし。

読み終わったらその日はいい気分でいられるでしょう。
少なくとも私は、そうでした。
ぜひとも読んでもらいたい。

主人公の船越達哉とかつての恋人・月子。
二人の娘・陽子。
蒸発した船越の父。
船越のヨットの前オーナー岡崎と娘の稲森裕子。
そして上巻には登場しない水上朝代。
これらの人物達が複雑に絡まり合い、１本の糸となった時に初めて船越は光に迎えられ、太陽を掴み取る。

現在の自分が過去を振り返りつつ隠された真実へとたどり着くという手法は、クックの『記憶シリーズ』に通ずるものがあるが、途中から結末が予想できてしまうのは技術的にクックほど長けていないのか、それともわざとなのか。
ストーリーの展開は非常に面白く、最後まで一気に読み進ませるものがあったのだが、なんとなくラストが投げやりのような気がしないでもないので、星は１つマイナスです。

現在、マリンメーカーの営業部員をしている船越には、16年前にクルーの一員として乗り込んだヨットが沈没してしまったと言う過去がある。その彼が離婚を機に中古のヨットを手に入れると、16年前に繋がる出来事が次々起こる。上巻では、過去と現在を描きながら、彼が新たな決意をするまでが描かれている。しかし、謎めかすことに力を入れすぎたためか、16年前に起こったことを小出しにして敢えてハッキリ書かなかったことと、ストーリーの視点がめまぐるしく変わることが散漫な印象を与え、作品に対する興味を失わせてしまう結果を生んだように思う。
