乃南 アサ
1960(昭和35)年、東京生れ。早稲田大学中退後、広告代理店勤務などを経て、作家活動に入る。’88年『幸福な朝食』が日本推理サスペンス大賞優秀作になる。’96(平成8)年『凍える牙』で直木賞受賞(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

結婚詐欺師という、古今東西、小説の題材として取り上げられてきた職業を、ダマす側、ダマされる側の双方から描いた作品。

作品の前半の軸となるのは、「橋口雄一郎」という結婚詐欺師のだましっぷりである。女性の心に巧みに入り込むプロのテクニックもさることながら、詐欺師なりに努力・苦労しているところがおもしろい。

読後、結婚詐欺師の橋口を憎むことができないのは、何故だろうかと考えた。知恵を絞り、ある意味で工夫を凝らしている努力する様にだろうか、ある意味で、女性に夢を与えているからだろうか、そもそも結婚というものをゴールと考える自己実現の設定の仕方に問題があることを、主人公が、そのような言葉を使わずして表現しているからだろうか。一気に、おもしろく、感慨深く読むことができました。

いやはや、時間の経つのも忘れてテンポの速いストーリーに引き込まれてしまいました。乃南さんの新刊ということですぐに興味は引かれたものの「結婚詐欺師」というダイレクトなタイトルがいまいちピンとこなくて、しばらく買わずにいたんですが、読んでみたら大正解！タイトルの印象で読むのをためらっている方がいらしたら是非ご一読おすすめです！
