22世紀を舞台にしたミステリー。

しかし、隔離された島を舞台にしているためか、
中世ヨーロッパを舞台にした
ファンタジーのようでもあります。

屈折した感情を持つミチルと
本来感情を持たないはずのロイディの
人間くさい掛け合いがほほえましいです。

自分の存在に苦悩するミチルは
非常に哲学的で、
自身の存在理由などを考えさせられます。

『女王の百年密室』に続き、ミチルとロイディの旅を描く第二章。
舞台は２２世紀。海に囲まれた島イル・サン・ジャックで起こる殺人事件を主軸に、
サエバ・ミチルとウォーカロン（ロボット）のロイディら、魅力的な登場人物が活躍する。
喜怒哀楽が顕著なミチルと、感情のない（が、どこか人間味のある）ロイディの
生真面目な会話がとても面白い。
謎解きあり、アクションあり、恋愛ありの贅沢な一作。
また森さんの書かれる未来の世界観が、緻密でリアルで非常に興味深い。

この物語は三部作とのことだが、一作一作が簡潔しているので安心して読める。
とりあえず『女王の百年密室』と『迷宮百年の睡魔』を読破して、次作を待ちましょう。

『女王の百年密室』に続く第二弾。
前作に続き、登場人物は主人公ミチルとその相棒ロイディ。２人は世界との交流を拒絶した島イル・サン・ジャックで奇妙な殺人事件に遭遇します。起こるはずのない条件下での不可解な殺人。ミチルとロイディは犯人と疑われながらも彼らなりの方法で事件の真相に迫っていきます。
いつも人生に対して何かを諦めているようで、自分の存在意義を探しているミチル。
ミチルと主従関係の立場でありながら、ミチルにとって唯一の友達であるロイディ。ロイディは頭脳明晰でどのような条件下でも冷静な判断をするウォーカロン（機械）ですが、人間的な思考回路を持っており、２人の何気ない会話のやりとりがとても面白いです。
物語は全体的に静かな印象。そのぶん登場人物達の会話が際立っています。そして、物語全体がオブラートに包まれているかのようにほんわりと描写されているので、事件についても酷く残虐な印象はなく、夢の中での出来事を見ているようです。
そして驚愕のラスト。全く予測もしていなかった結末でした。
頁をめくる手が止まらず、睡眠不足になること請合いです（笑）
