おりんの喜怒哀楽が読み手に十二分に伝わる表現力、文章力はさすが。
彼女の素直な感性を通して描かれるお化けさんたちも魅力充分で、否が応でも物語の謎への興味を掻き立てられる。
おかげさまで感情移入を妨げられることなく、一気に読み終えることができた。

ただ、ミステリー要素だけに限れば、物語の結末はもうひとひねり欲しかった気がする。
あくまで「限れば」、「強いて言えば」の話。
作者の書きたかったことはそれまでにほぼ書ききれているだろうから、物語としてマイナス評価にするほどでもないコトだけど。

というわけで、人にお薦めする上で特に躊躇する理由は見つからない。
☆５つ。

宮部みゆきはたまに読後にひんやりとする小説を書きます。特に現代モノの短編でしょうか。

それも良いのですが、私は時代ものの長編の、温かみがある話が好きです。
そこに至るまでに、主人公や周りのヒト達が哀れだったり、苦しかったりしますが、読了感がホントウに優しいのです。

今回も人間の醜さをお化けに反映させることで、お化けの哀れもですが、生きている人間の哀れさもより一層際立ちます。
あまりにもポジティブだと引いてしまう私も、その塩加減の巧みさについつい...

幅広い年代にオススメできるお話だと思っています。

宮部みゆき作品の入口となった思い出の作品です。少女のけなげさに最初はただのお化けだった幽霊たちが感化されていく様子が温かく描かれています。平易でなおかつ深みのある文章表現は素晴らしく、いつまでも本棚に飾っておきたい本です。
