　宮部さんならではの盛りだくさんの構成と登場人物で読者を満足させてくれます。
　法の網を潜り抜けて、犯罪などとは全く関係ないと言うような顔で過ごしている人たちにも、罪悪感という下意識に刻み込まれているものまでは、消し去ることがでずきないというのも業だと思いました。そんな罰されない犯罪者をその下意識に働きかけることによって自殺という形で罰してしまうのだから、これはまさに魔術でしょう。
　自殺の謎が明らかになるにしたがって、も一つの真相が分かってきます。お楽しみに・・・。

たしかにミステリーではあるのですが、
読んでいる最中にも、そして読み終えた後にも、
推理小説を読んだ、という感じはあまりしません。

のっけから面白い、
先は見えないのに途中の展開も面白い、
とうぜんクライマックスも一読巻置く能わざる、という感じでのめり込む。
つまり、面白い小説なのです。

ただ、ミステリとして見た場合、
この犯行手段は乱歩の時代ならともかく、
今描くにはちょっと都合良すぎるのでは…。
このあたりにもうちょっと合理的な手段があれば…。

いまでこそ「クロスファイア」や「模倣犯」
の映画化で
有名になりすぎた感のあるみゆき氏ですが、
初期の頃のこの作品がマイベストです。
主人公の少年の描き方がいいのと、どの作品にも
共通しますが、読み終えたあとに残る印象が決して
不快にならないところが魅力。
ほか「レベル７」と「鳩笛草」も自身の５つ星！
