本書の各短編はそれぞれが別個の話でありながら、一つの共通点を持っています。
ネタバレするのはよくないので、詳しくは書きませんが、その共通点とは一つのセリフなんです。最終話の「花」を読むとそのセリフが浮き彫りになります。
僕はそのとき涙を流してしまいました。
素晴らしい一冊です。激しくお勧め！

三つの中篇が収められていますが、主人公はすべて同一人物と見ることも別人と見ることもできます。３話全てに同じ人物（脇役だが重要）も登場し、時間的にも場所的にもつながりのある話の連作です。

対話編というタイトルの通り、全ての話が、主人公ともう一人の人物の対話を主軸に展開します。どの話も哀しさがにじみ出ていますし、絶望を感じさせる話もあるのですが、それでもかなりの笑いと、絶望を吹き飛ばそうとする意志の強さと希望が感じられます。

やはりこの人の小説は楽しい。

何の変哲もない4月の月曜日の朝，僕は生まれて初めて記憶を失った。気付いた大学病院で聞かされた診断は先天性の動脈瘤。手術を医師に勧められるが，手術には逆行健忘の恐れがあるという。会社を辞め実家に戻り，手術をためらう僕のもとに一つの依頼が舞い込んできた･･･『花』より

三編からなる短編集。以前読んだ『映画編』はそれぞれの短編が微妙にシンクロしていたのであるが，この3つの作品は全く別物の話である。それぞれが主人公となる二人の奇妙なシチュエーションの会話（対話）の中で描かれる恋愛を描いた話である。それぞれが適当な長さで，読書も進んでいくのであるが，内容的には軽すぎる気がした。個人的には上記の『花』が面白かったが，他の二編がイマイチのため評価下がった。
