江國 香織
1964(昭和39)年東京生れ。短大国文科卒業後、アメリカに一年留学。’87年「草之丞の話」で「小さな童話」大賞、’89(平成元)年「409ラドクリフ」でフェミナ賞、’92年『こうばしい日々』で坪田譲治文学賞、『きらきらひかる』で紫式部文学賞、’99年『ぼくの小鳥ちゃん』で路傍の石文学賞、2002年『泳ぐのに、安全でも適切でもありません』で山本周五郎賞、’04年『号泣する準備はできていた』で直木賞を受賞。著書多数。絵本の翻訳も多い(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

江國香織が1989年から2002年くらいのあいだに書かれた短篇を集めた、文庫オリジナル短篇集。
いや〜江國香織は小説はほぼ読んできたが、これもいい!!何となく、最近の江國香織にはない軽やかさと甘さがあります。こんなに恋愛を書く(この短篇集は恋愛ばかりじゃないが)のがうまい作家も珍しい。彼女はまれな小説家です。こんなに美しくみえる物語が、実はとても滑稽で危険なものだということに気付かないくらい。
「きらきらひかる」の続編も入っていて、これもなかなかいい!!
相変わらず野蛮で自由ですね。
思わず笑っちゃうようなおかしさと、ふいに心臓に氷をあてがわれるような切なさが、うまく書ききれています。
何かがあるような(本当にそんなものがあるのかもわからないのに)、しずかな文体も健在。ただ、これはちょっと(てか、かなり?)純文学って感じですね。もともとこの人はかなり微妙な位置にいる作家ですしね。直木賞をもらったのに、初期の頃は純文学系の賞も受賞している。
でもとにかく、かなりいい短篇集ですね。あとがきとタイトルも突出したうまさがあります。

この本はきらきらひかるの続編なのでしょうか？前編を読んでいないので、どういう展開だったのかわかりませんが、ぬるい眠りはほのぼのとした本でした。江國さんらしい独特の優しさを感じます。もう少しインパクトがあってもいいかなと思いますが、ほっとしたい時に読みたい本です。

今では、貴重な初期のころの作品と、「きらきらひかる」その後
が収録されていて、出版社の戦略に見事にはまり発売後すぐ
購入しました。

最近の作品に比べて、初期のころの透明感+不完全さの残る文章に
懐かしさを感じると共に、文章ってだんだんうまくなるものなのね
と感じてしまいました。

ところで、待望のきらきらひかる後編では、期待していただけに
ちょっと。。と思いましたが、いい意味で裏切ってくれた作品でしょう。

紺くんの成長がなんだか、寂しかったですが・・。まあ仕方ないですね。

それにしても、相変わらずタイトルはすべてすばらしいです。
