鷺沢 萠
1968(昭和43)年、東京生れ。上智大学外国語学部ロシア語科除籍。’87年、18歳の時に「川べりの道」を執筆し、文學界新人賞を受賞。「葉桜の日」などで芥川賞候補に、「ほんとうの夏」などで三島賞候補に挙げられ、’92(平成4)年『駆ける少年』で泉鏡花文学賞を受賞。『少年たちの終わらない夜』『キネマ旬砲』『私の話』『ウェルカム・ホーム』など著書多数。幅広い読者の支持を受ける現代文学の気鋭作家。2004年4月、死去(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

鷺沢萠は文壇の山口百恵である。美人というにはちょっぴりデコチンだが、十代で文壇デビューしてから読者の前でどんどん変身を遂げた。彼女の作品には季節感があまりない。そんなことより人間関係の描写に明け暮れたりする。人間描写といってもエロチシズムは根底から嫌っているようで、健全ではある。

「ビューティフル・ネーム」は名前をテーマにした作品集の総タイトルである。未完の作品も入っている。死後、彼女のパソコンに入っていた作品だそうだ。悲しい。
「眼鏡越しの空」はビクつく在日韓国人への日本人の予想外の無邪気な無知ぶりが描かれている。朝鮮、満州、そして東南アジア支配の日本帝国が画策したアジアの盟主たる日本人の優秀性が戦後も長く尾を引いて、アジア人差別、とりわけなぜか朝鮮・韓国人への差別がなかでも根深い。そんな感情の山塊の中で生きている在日韓国人の気遣いが彼女の中期からの一貫したテーマである。けれど差別にあえぎ、のたうち回るという悲劇がない。
エロチシズムも迫害によるうちひしがれた生き様がない。人生に疲れ、酒とマージャンと車の日々といった、けだるそうな晩年の顔つきとは対照的に、作品は根本から明るいのである。
「春の居場所」には、かなり体験が盛り込まれているようだ。都立雪谷高校の教師と生徒たちがテレビドラマのように生き生きと描かれていて笑えるのである。ちなみにぼくもこんなふうな学校を出ました。
