新堂氏の作品は「無間地獄」や「底なし沼」に代表されるような金融（裏金融）ネタの作品を読んでいただけに本作品（短編集）もその類かと思ったが、全く違っていた。

全編に共通するメインテーマは歪んだ愛が招く悲劇。
文章・内容は以前と比べとても進化した（洗練された）感があり4編とも一気に読み終えた。
特に良かったのは「まゆかの恋慕」。
この作品はグロい表現が含まれている中にも、一途な恋心が描かれており、涙を誘うものがあった。

本書は新堂氏の今後の可能性を強く感じた1冊となった。
新堂氏の作品を読んだことのない方にも自信を持ってお薦めできます。

この作品は電子書籍で初めて読んだのですが、衝撃のラストに全部ビックリしました(*_*)
特に『まゆかの恋慕』では久々に小説で号泣してしまいました…(:_;)
どの作品も、先が読めない展開なので、心臓バクバク状態で読んでました。私は短編小説だと感情移入しない内に終わってしまうので長編小説派ですが、初めて短編小説にハマりました〜♪
唯、かなり吐きたくなるグロテスクな内容です。特に虫が嫌いな方は厳しいかもしれないですよ〜f^_^;(私も虫大嫌いでしたが)
他の新堂先生の作品も読む予定です★

「食事前には読まないで下さい」という内容の解説が付けられている。
なるほど、この猟奇的描写の連続を読んでいると、表題どうり、吐き気すら催す。

しかし、本書の猟奇性は、天ぷらで言えば、衣に過ぎない。
きわめていびつな形ではあるが、これらも一種の純愛と呼んでも良い。
特に「まゆかの恋慕」は、猟奇的ではあるが、しみじみとした、本物の純愛だ。

精神的に病んでいると感じさせられる作品であっても、共感または了解出来る部分も多い。
四篇の作品は、読了してみて、なるほどと感じさせられ、どれも印象に残る。

著者の手掛ける分野は、企業小説から純愛小説に移り、最近はクライムノベルも手掛ける。
本書は、純愛小説であり、同時に、クライムノベルでもある。

ただ、猟奇性の度が過ぎる点を減点し、星４っつとした。
