女流ＳＭ作家というイメージから興味半分で読み始めた姫野さんですが、
全編を貫くトホホなスタンスが妙に心地くて好きになりました。

小学生の頃持っていた｢何であんな子がモテルの!?」というじゃりっとした違和感から、｢いわゆる健全な社会の良識やまっとうなご意見｣に対しての戸惑いまで、けっこう頷けちゃうところが多いのです。

こういうことを考える自分が変なのかなぁと
よけい自信を無くしてしまうパターン的思考ってありますよね。

1991年頃に雑誌に連載されたエッセイを収録した一冊です。自分の顔にコンプレックスを持っていた著者が俳優・タレント・作品キャラを実例に、考察しています。実例のタレントなどは文庫化にあたって大幅に入れ替わっており、1991年頃にテレビタレントに夢中になる年代に達していなかった人、今ようやく自意識過剰になった皆様にも楽しめる一冊でした＼（^O^)／

「ブス」に対するいわゆる“叩き”かと思ったら、単に自分の好みに照らしたブスと美人の基準の紹介じゃん。
こんなタイトルを付けるのなら、もっと「ブス」に関する考察を深めてから書くべきじゃないだろうか。これは観察眼がどうとかの問題以前の話。読み手（＝世間一般）の「ブスか否か」の認識とは微妙にずれているところで、そのテーマを論じている。
ナンシー関を見習ってほしい。以上。
