1962(昭和37)年、大阪府生れ。高校時代から音楽活動を始め、’81年バンド「INU」で『メシ喰うな』を発表。俳優としても活躍する。’96(平成8)年に発表した処女小説『くっすん大黒』でドゥマゴ文学賞、野間文芸新人賞受賞。2000年『きれぎれ』で芥川賞受賞(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

町田康の文章は一貫して凄まじいか、いやに親近感を覚えるかのどちらかだと思うが、ことに本書では詩では短すぎ、俳句や短歌より長いフッシギイなセンテンスがたくさん詰め込まれている。しかし、寝る前に何となく読み、朝起きてもういちど同じ箇所を読むと、（読むと言うよりは吸い込まれる感じです）自己脳内パースペクティブが発生しておりまったく違うものに吸い込まれていた自分を見つけ出すと思う。言葉を単なる記号で終わらせない有機的ながらぶっ壊れてる素敵で珠玉な手のひらサイズの文庫本。手のひらサイズの宇宙。飯を食いながら読むのも良し。ただ眺めるのも良し。これを最初に読んだときはワケガワカラなかったけど眺めるほどに何かが見えてくるようなこないような一冊なのです。言葉がつまらなくなった濁世に潤いを与えている一冊なのかもしれない。

処女詩集。最新詩集の「土間の四十八滝」に比べると､より簡素な構成で綴られ､一つ一つの詩は短いながらも一行ごとにぎゅっとポエジーが詰め込まれている。その密度はすごい！

たにし､飯、愛、うどん､おランチを召し上がる、など町田的語彙の頻出も特徴。単なる美しいポエジーの展覧会でなく､限られた語彙で､現代日本の土俗的な風景ををねじれた感覚でとらえ､現代詩の最先端へ軽々と飛び出した､画期的詩集。

ノートや手帳に殴り書きしたものを本にしたような
詩集で、思うが侭に書き捨ててる風を装い実は深い。

それはむしろ私の好きなタイプなんだけど何度読んでも
心に響かなかった。

彼に関心を抱き最初に手にするのは他の作品の方が良
いかもしれません。
