表紙に魅かれて、内容を全く見ないまま
衝動買いしてしまったのですが、アタリでした(笑)

著者がマイヨールと実際に過ごした記録なのでリアルです。
素のマイヨールを垣間見れたような気がしました。
文章にも無駄がなく、あたたかい目で追っている雰囲気は感じますが
感情移入しすぎているわけではないので、マイヨールの人間味がきちんと伝わってきます。
また、美しい写真とのコラボレーションにより、マイヨールという人が
ただ心から海を愛していた人なんだなぁという事がシンプルに、
でも強烈に伝わってきます。
とても心地よい本です。

くじらっていいなあ、ジャック・マイヨールっていいなあ、こんなふうに書ける池澤夏樹っていいなあ、と思う本です。
今いる世界とは、全く違う世界があって、そこで生きてる人がいて、息苦しくなったときに、風穴をあけてくれます。池澤夏樹の挿絵もほんわかしていて、とても好きです。
