素晴らしい構成と描写力！
本末転倒ではあるが、私は映画で表現されていた危機的状況がいかにして言葉で表現されていたのかに興味をもち読み始めた。
結果、その微細な描写と展開に心を鷲づかみにされた。映画だけでは「ホワイトアウト」の世界観を味わうに十分ではない。原作には富樫の葛藤が詰まっている。

映画は小説に勝てず、小説もまた映画に勝てず、、、再読の価値あり！

映画は観ていないので、ＤＶＤを衝動買いしたくなりました。
読み始めから引き込まれる、文章力に脱帽です。
緻密に考えられた脚本、他に必要なものは何もありません。
少し頁数の多い文庫ですが、リズムが良いので読み始めると止められません。

富樫は、ダムの運転員。仲間と遭難者を救う場面から始まります。

ホワイトアウトの表題に相応しい雪山の場面から
武装グループが占拠するまでの息もつかせぬ展開は
本当に冒険小説の域を超えています。

そして432-433頁、今までの小説でも、たくさん涙腺が緩みましたけど
こんなに質の違う涙が止まらなくなったのは、初めての経験です。
上司の清水課長からの伝言「君は日本一のダムの運転員だ」

この一言が、この小説のクライマックスだと思います。

そしてラストシーン、この涙が乾いた頃に、また静かに泣けるんです。
真保さんの奇跡の人も、読んでみたくなりました。

織田裕二主演で映画化されたこの作品ですが、映画を見なくても見たつもりになれる。といえば良いでしょうか、真保裕一の文章の特色でもある、人物描写、設定、風景に至る過剰なまでの細やかな描写力…。 読んでるうち、目前にダムが聳え立ち、自分の肩に雪がこんこんと降り積もっているのではないかと疑いさえしました。

現状から逃げ出す機会が何度もあったはずの、主人公富樫輝男。何故彼がそこまでして、１人でテロリストに立ち向うのか？。 映画以上のスリルと緊迫感。手に汗握るシーンの連続。 一度読みはじめたら、一気に読破しなければ気がすまなくなるはずです。酸欠しそうなくらい圧巻されます。 是非、時間に余裕の有る時に読んでください。

通勤電車の中で読むのは危険です。 自分の降りる駅を乗り過ごしてしまいそうですから。（笑）
