特に言われてはいないが、この物語、終幕へ向かうその流れの中での二転三転が非常にたくみで、まさにラストシーンまで見逃せない趣向となっている。

ストーリーは、岡山の片田舎で起こる殺人事件。その捜査と解明の中で主人公の少年の周りを流れる人間模様の変化を描くというものだ。

横溝正史を意識しているため、この作者としては珍しく、ハイクライムな場面が皆無に等しい。葬列や彼岸の奴隷のように、いわゆるキレた人間など全く出てこないため、この作者のほかの作品を好んでいる方にとっては少々物足りないかもしれない。
ところが、この作者、他の作品を読んだ方ならわかると思うのだが、完全なまでに美しい伏線の張り方をする。
そこは、ハイクライムノベルではないぶん今作では大いに幅を利かせて打ち出されている。
真相が二転三転し、完全に解明された後に、今まで読んできた中で妙だが、なんとなく思い過ごしてきた瑣末な事柄がすべて意味を持ち始める。私などは、思わずその箇所を探し読み直したほどだった。
また、文章としては全く此れまでの作品同様一気に読ませるリズムのよい文体であるし、クオリティは劣っていない。
この作者の伏線の張り方が好きな方は、読んでみてはいかがだろう。作者のハイクライムでは見られない別の一面をのぞけること請け合いだ。

横溝正史へのオマージュに彩られた衝撃のミステリ大作
ってなってる割には横溝先生に比べると全然
オドロオドロしくもなく変にいろんな男女が
関係を持ってしまったために複雑な事件になってしまった
だけに思われました
謎解きをする探偵も金田一耕助を現代風に
アレンジするとこんな風になるのかなと？思いましたけど
軽薄で自己満足だけのつまらない人物になっててがっかりです
