4.0 out of 5 stars 恐ろしいほどの命の連鎖, 2009/1/2
「先祖伝来のぬか床」から始まる物語は、
「いのちの繋がり」を素晴らしく、恐ろしく描いている。
梨木香歩独特の世界観ではあるけれども、
これまで読んだどんな作品より、作品そのものに重みがある。
間に挟まれる「かつて風に靡く白銀の草原があったシマの話」
で、少しずつ気分を変えて読んでいかないと、吐きそうになるほど。

自分にのしかかる、これまで何代・何十代もの命たち
これを呪縛と捉えるか、進化と捉えるか・・・
物語は、明るく終わっているが、
読み終えた後、まだなんとなく、重みを感じ続けてしまう。
すごいパワーで書かれた作品なんだろうなと思う。

『家守綺譚』以来、彼女の小説は好きで読んでいるが、この小説も不思議な幻想小説。
ぬか床から人が出てくるっていう設定も不思議で面白いけど、彼女の文体がまた、不思議。知らず知らず、ストーリーに引き込まれていく。

ラストシーンも味わい深い。男女の性、人間って何だろう、なんてことを考えさせられる。

先祖代々伝わるぬかどこから、
人が生まれる。
という嘘を中心に描かれた話。

このお話は前半の主人公の女性が面白い。

この女性は、
ぬかどこから人が生まれた。
というボケに対して、実際的に付き合っていくのだ。
はいはい、しょうがないな。
といった具合に。

ときに、そのボケに対して、
おもしろいじゃないの。
といった具合に反応したりもする。

こんな感じが、読んでいて面白い。

しかし残念なのは後半だ。

だんだんと。
ぬかどこから人が生まれる、
というボケがボケではなくなり、
普通になっていくのだ。

ボケのＳＦ化が進行するのである。

そもそもの最初から、
これはＳＦ小説なんだ、という前提で読んでいれば
楽しめるのかもしれないが、
ぬかどこから人が生まれる、
という設定をＳＦにするには
ちょっとムリがあると僕は思うのだ。

これはボケではないかもしれないが、
「リング」というホラー小説のボケが
「らせん」という続きでボケに解説を
つけてしまって、白けてしまったのと
同じような感じだ。

あれは何かようわからんけど
テレビとか井戸から髪の長い女性が
出てくる、ということが怖いのであって、
そこを解説できてしまったら
怖さは半減するのだ。

あぁやっぱり出てきたね。
そりゃ出てくるよ。
ってなったら、そこまで怖くはない。

僕にとっては、
ぬかどこのボケもこれと同じである。

ボケはボケだとわかっているから、
笑えるのであって、それがボケではなく、
普通になった瞬間から、笑えなくなるものだ、
と僕なんかは思うので、後半になって、
これはしまったと思ったのだった。

ボケはボケのままがいい。

そう思った小説だった。
