「薬指の標本」のほうがいつまでも糸を引くような感触を残す読後でした。

ひそやかな文体から常に頭の中に映像が浮かぶのですが
すっかり古びて、乾燥し、殆んど清潔にさえ見える廃墟がハイビジョンカメラで
細部までじっくりなめるように映されていくような…

はっきりした映像が浮かぶ、という点ではリアルなのですが
実際のところは幻想的なホラーに近いと思います。標本技術士は「コレクター」ですね。
標本が自ら標本化されたがるという点は異なりますが。

読み終わって表紙を改めて見ると、椅子の足のようなモノに靴が履かせてある！ぞぞ。

「薬指の標本」という題にひかれて手にしました。そこに描かれる元女子用アパートメントを買いきった標本室という不思議な切り取られたような空間。どこといって特徴の無い、不可思議な魅力に溢れた技術士は夢のなかで誰もが一度は出会っているような「異性」の象徴のようでもあります。自由を望む反面どこかで圧倒的な力に閉じ込められたいと思う心理をくすぐられました。醒めない夢の中に閉じ込められるような魅力に溢れた短い時間を味わえます。

「博士の愛した数式」が有名ですが、小川さんの作風を語るのに一番ピッタリな作品がこれじゃないかな、と思います。
薬指、標本、赤い靴のオマージュにも思える黒い革靴。
全てのこれらの小道具が、心地よい痛みを抱えているようで、それが面白いですね。
静かだけれども、チクチクと刺さるような痛み。
幻想的でいて、非幻想的でもあるような。
読んだ後は、心地よい痛みに夢中になります。

これに入ってるもう一つの作品も、奇妙で面白いですよ。
