北は北海道、南は沖縄、日本全国の猫たちのショットとちょっとした説明、さらにギャグマンガまで。都会の猫、海辺の猫、田舎の猫、山の猫、日本中のいたるところで暮らすいろんな猫たちの姿。自然体のしぐさ、表情に、心が癒されます！猫好きにはたまらない本だと思います。

以前、猫が鼻ちょうちんをふくらませているポストカードを
お店で発見し、とても気に入って購入しました。
猫が好きなので本屋さんでこの本を立ち読みさせていただいていると、
そのポストカードの写真が載っていたので即買いでした！
日本でインフルエンザが流行した頃、
猫も鼻ちょうちんをふくらませていたそうです。

かわいそうだけれど、とてもかわいく撮れているので
ニコニコしてしまいます。
他にもほのぼのとした日本の猫達がたくさんでホクホクします。

5.0 out of 5 stars 本邦初、「ネコ風土記」です。, 2004/9/12
「類書は多い。いちいち買っていては切りがない、積み重なればお金だって馬鹿にならんぞ」と思いつつも、また買うてしもうた・・・。

しかし、本書はある意味でユニークである。写真もネコの「鼻提灯」など珍ショットが少なくない。さらに「人間の生活の中のネコ達」というコンセプトで、ネコと土地の人々の生活との結びつきがシャッターに納められている。写真にまつわるエッセーやエピソードも非常に良い。まさに「ネコ風土記」ともいえる内容であり、ひょうきんなネコの姿にニヤニヤしながらも、しばし郷愁に浸ってしまうことも一度や二度ではなかった。

ちなみに、「ネコ」だけでは中途半端だからと、もう一方の「イヌ」（ニッポンの犬）も買うてしもうた・・・。
