かつて単行本で読みましたが、いつの間にやら文庫になったのですね。

有名な動物写真家、岩合さんの一家が、タンザニアのセレンゲティに家族ごと住み込んでいた時の記録です。それもご本人ではなく、奥さんが書かれています。

子供さんの様子や人々とのふれあいなど、岩合さんの動物写真集にも負けないみずみずしい感性の文章で楽しめます。

私もセレンゲティを訪れましたが、岩合さんの写真や、アフリカ ポレポレの文章を思い出し、まるで追体験しているかのような気持ちになりました。

著者のご主人である岩合光昭さんの「おきて」という写真集を持っています。その写真集の最後にもちょっとした文章が載っているんですけど，この本を読んで更に深く，岩合ファミリーの生活を想像する事ができました。
生活への向き合い方に気負いが少ないところと，愛娘・薫ちゃんのふっと口にする言葉のひとつひとつがすばらしいと思います。
