故・隆慶一郎の代表作。エンターテイメントとしての完成度を歴史書の衣裳で包んだかのような仕上がり。読み終えたときの、熱く静かな充実感は、傑作ならでは生まれ得ぬものでしょう。一つ一つの言葉の選び方・遣い方、特に台詞は秀逸。ラストのお梶と二郎三郎の台詞は、脚本家・池田一朗の面目躍如といったところです。

これこそ歴史の真実では、と思えるくらい、すばらしいストーリー展開。キャラクターも秀逸で、私の中の秀忠像と三成像が変わってしまいました。

群馬県の太田市には、東照宮のあるところに世良田、徳川という地名があります。興味のある方、行ってみては？

終焉に向かって動き出すチーム二郎三郎。
歴史の流れに最後まで抗う姿に、隆慶一郎の「滅びの美学」を見た。


読めば読むほど、これが歴史の真実ではないかと思わざるを得ない。
小説はかくあるべし。


最後に、本書の装丁に賛辞を贈りたい。
色使いも落ち着いており、イラストはまさに影武者を思わせる。
こんなに小説の内容とあっている装丁はめずらしい。
