文章技術を向上させようと考えた時、役に立つ一冊です。書き方は軽いので、１日あれば読み切れます。

・作文の秘訣は自分にしか書けないことを、分かりやすく書くこと。
・文章を曖昧にするのが「〜か」
・題名を付けることで１／３以上終わっている。いい題名とは情報が豊かである。
・なるべく短くする。
・いきなり核心にはいることが大切。
・日本語は主語を削ると良くなる。
・日本語には関係代名詞がないので、文をちょっと複雑にすると短期記憶に入らない。
・外国語では丁寧さを表すのに人称を変える。
・先触れの副詞を使うと効果的（さぞ、かならずしも、けっして、ちっとも）
・長期記憶の中からとんでもない物が、ひゅっと出てくる。
・わたしたちは民族として長期記憶が少ない。
・全体のテーマからそう外れずに脱線する。
・子供には観察文とか報告文を書かせる。感想文では駄目。
・人に伝えるには言葉が必要。

本書は、作家井上ひさし氏が「仲間たち」を前に「作文教室」を開いた模様をおさめたものである。構成は二部に分かれている。前半では、日本語とはどういう言語なのか、「は」と「が」はどう違うのか、段落をどうつけていくか、大人でもそう簡単に書くことができない「思ったこと」を書かせる国語教育の問題点（その最たるものが、読書感想文で、これの＜おかげで＞作文嫌いになった人も多いだろう）といったことが語られている。後半では、実際に仲間たちが書いた作文に朱を入れ、講評を行っている。読み終えた後、なんだか文章を書いてみたい、と思うから不思議である。

１、作文の方法・・・なんといっても「作文教室」ですから
２、話術・話の落とし方＜副次的効用＞・・・会場で笑いが起こる様子が想像できます
３、広範な知識＜副次的効用＞・・・日本語についての比較文化論その他諸々

　作文について勉強するだけならほかにも本はあります。笑いながら、かつ広範な知識に触れながらという副次的効用があるあたりが、井上ひさしの面目躍如たるところです。
