井上 ひさし
1934(昭和9)年、山形県生れ。上智大学文学部卒業。浅草フランス座で文芸部進行係を務めた後に放送作家としてスタートする。以後『道元の冒険』(岸田戯曲賞、芸術選奨新人賞)、『手鎖心中』(直木賞)、『吉里吉里人』(読売文学賞、日本SF大賞)、『東京セブンローズ』など戯曲、小説、エッセイ等に幅広く活躍している。’84年に劇団「こまつ座」を結成し、座付き作者として自作の上演活動を行っている(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

　同郷である井上ひさし氏の『遠野物語』へのオマージュ作品。遠野へ行く時は、柳田国男の『遠野物語』そして井上氏のこの作品を読んでから出かけられることを強くオススメします。特に『新釈』の方は新幹線に乗りながら目を通せば、時空を旅することができることでしょう。そして最後の一文に達したとき、もう一度最初のページに戻っているに違いありません。遠野で最後にかかれた情景を見つけることができるでしょうか。
　『遠野物語』を読んだことのある人にとっては、さまざまなシーンで「あっこれは…」という箇所が沢山出てきます。しかし、これは決してパロディではありません。笑いあり、エッチなシーンあり、しんみりとしてしまうシーンあり。でも最後は…

いきなり、本家柳田國男の遠野物語のパロディー。とはいいつつ、語り部が読者に語りかける柳田民話の本質は外していません。井上ひさし流のコダワリの日本語でところどころにギャグがちりばめられつつ作品全体に漂う不思議な雰囲気。ラストではでふっとノスタルジーを感じさせてくれます。あなたも狐に化かされてみませんか？

　実は私は本元の遠野物語は読んだことはありません。そこで感想。子供の時観た日本昔話を思い出しました。井上さんが東北に暮らしていた時に感じた景観、人々の暮らし、匂いまで伝わって来そうです。
　井上さんは主人公と同様に診療所のアルバイトをしていたそうです。
