　中・高・大学と、陸上競技（長距離）一筋に生きてきた僕なりの感想です。

　ランナーしか知りえないランナーの心情をとても丁寧な筆致で描いていて、僕も２０年前を思い起こして「そうそう、そうなんだよ」と何度も心の中でつぶやきました。三浦氏は丁寧な取材を重ねるうち、「走る」ことの奥深さと、「走る」ことに無償の情熱を捧げる若者たちの虜になったであろうことが、容易に想像できます。
　さて、ストーリーはというと、どうしたって「あり得ない」とか「やっぱりこうきたか」とか思う部分が少なくありません。小説なんだから仕方のないことかも知れませんが。そこの部分はやはり「真実」にはかなわないと思いますが、「駅伝」（ないし「スポーツ」）を題材にしている時点でのリスクと言えるでしょう。どうしたって「クサく」なってしまいますよね。

　と、いうことで、ストーリーはやや凡庸ながらも、走ることに打ち込む若者の姿を丁寧に描く真摯な姿勢に、とても共鳴しました。現役＆元ランナーが読むに耐えうる作品です。

映画を先にみて、人物の描き方が中途半端に感じたので、原作を読みました。

映画化によって削られた部分、付け加わった部分、それぞれ善し悪しはあると
思いますが、箱根駅伝でのハイジの描き方には雲泥の差があると思いました。

見た目に分かりやすい感動に仕立てた映画、映像的には地味だけど、
読んでいて震えるほどの本物の魂の走りを描いた小説。
私は小説の方がずっと好きです。

よくある安っぽいスポ根物とは一線を画し、結果が全てではない、
スポーツの本当の喜びを描いた傑作だと思います。

陸上をテーマにした小説では、「一瞬の風になれ」がベストだと思っていましたが、
高校生と大学生の人生経験の差、もしくは挫折の深さの分、こちらの方が
奥が深く感じます。

ぼろっちいアパートに住む普通の大学生が「ハイジさん」というニックネームの
熱いハートを持ちつつも冷静で、卓越したリーダーの元、箱根駅伝を目指すという
荒唐無稽なれど、爽やかな汗と熱い想いが満ちた作品です。
私はハードカバーで買って読みました。これが文庫ならばお買い得です。
ストレスの多い日々、心がかさついてきた、ちょっと元気がなくなってきた・・・
そんな時にぜひ、手に取っていただきたい１冊です。
数時間の間、この作品の熱狂に浸り、読み終えたときには心に爽やかな風が強く吹きます。
鉄板でオススメの１冊です。
