米倉涼子主演でドラマ化されている作品である。松本清張の悪女系の作品はすっかり米倉涼子が独占している感があるが、この「けものみち」も「黒革の手帖」と同様に、悪女が、自分の周りに群がる男どもを肥やしにしつつ立身出世していく話である。人の欲望が底なしであることをこれでもかというくらいに丹念に描いており、なかなかドロドロとしているため、読後感もハッピーエンドの小説に比べれば当然よくないが、これ以上どんな悪があるのだろうという期待感が高まって引き込まれてしまい、また展開もスピーディーで面白い。たまにはこういう小説を読むのもよい。

　松本清張の作品で、人間あるいは読者の心の奥底（特に人には知られたくない暗い心理）をえぐるように描かれている作品は非常に読み応えがあるものが多い。そして、自分の欲望のままにいきているような人物が主人公であればより面白い作品となる。
　彼の作品が既に舞台設定が古くなっているにもかかわらず、今なおドラマ化されるのはこれが理由であろう。人の心の奥底は時代が違っても変わらないものなのである。
　本作もその条件を満たしている。自分勝手な人物ばかりである。
　この作品は推理小説ではないので、ドラマを見終わる前に読んでもまったく問題ないと思う。かえって、時代や設定の違いを比べることができていいかもしれないくらいである。
　さて、ドラマはどう展開していくのだろうか。
　
　この作品が楽しめれば『悪いやつら』も読むことをおすすめする。
徹底して救いようのない登場人物ばかりである
