　賢治の眼に映った岩手の自然の風景を、ささっとスケッチして掴まえてきたような詩がいっぱい。青白い光を放ちながらぺかぺかと明滅する鉱石の間を、しゅうふっふと息を吐きながら、岩手軽便鉄道が走っていたり。海のように光る山から、ホウと声を立てながら風が走ってきたり。すきとおった景色が、幻燈機が映し出すスクリーンを流れていく･･････。そんな気がして、不思議にいい心持ちになりました。
　また、賢治のすぐ下の妹、とし子（宮澤トシ。1898-1922）の死に立ち会った賢治の深い悲しみを、妹に呼びかけるように歌ったいくつかの詩に、胸がぐっと詰りましたね。「永訣の朝」「松の針」「無声慟哭」の三つの詩。
　それから、「早春独白」の中、次の詩句がいいなあ。くらくらっときました。
≪　･･････雨はすきとおってまっすぐに降り　　雪はしづかに舞ひおりる　　妖しい春のみぞれです･･････　≫
　さて、一等賞のメダルはどの詩にあげよう。「眼にて云ふ」、これに決めました。こんなにもすきとおって美しい詩も、そうはないでしょう。おしまいの三行の言葉が、ことのほか、綺麗です。余談ですが、この「眼にて云ふ」と「生徒諸君に寄せる」の中にある詩句が、伊坂幸太郎『魔王』の物語で、かなり印象深い使われ方をしています。興味をお持ちになった方は、『魔王』もぜひ！

宮澤賢治自体が好き嫌いはっきり判れると思う。
難しい表現、科学的専門用語など、よく分からないうちでは理解し難いかもしれない。
（しかし最後に注解が書いてあるので大丈夫だとは思う）

初めて読む人に背景で知っていて欲しいのは、
・先立ってしまった妹とし子への深い愛情。
・法華経を篤く信仰していたこと。

・自己犠牲の精神、賢治は農民になりたかったこと。
ここらを少し頭の片隅に入れて読むと内容を理解しやすく善いと思う。

多分誰だって一度は挫折や悲しみ、苦しみを味わう筈だ。其の時賢治を誰より身近に感じられる一冊である。
最後は熱に浮かされながら書いた、あの有名すぎる『雨ニモマケズ』も収録されている。

あとは『春と修羅』の序文の一部に

　ここまでたもちつゞけられた
　かげとひかりのひとくさりづつ
　そのとほりの心象スケッチです

と、ある。この一文が読了後にただ痛く切ない静謐な叫びだけの文ではなく、
この詩集には春の芽生えのようなあたたかいものも存在していたのだと感じさせてくれる。

　危篤の父を見守る病室で、幾度もこの本を読み、幾度涙したか。

　本書は現代に生きる人々にも、十二分に賢治の世界にふれられるように、ひらがなの使い方もわかりやすく、難しい漢字にもルビをつけ、読みやすい形となっている。

　梅原猛は彼を日本を代表する宗教家と位置づけている。

　「無声慟哭」本書に収録されている一遍の詩の題名こそ、彼の苦悩する姿をよく表現している。
　宗教的な意思から立脚し、人々の為に生きることを覚悟した自分が、妹の死というある意味利己的な現象に立ち向かったときに、彼は自らへの愚直さゆえに、妹の奇跡を祈ることが出来なかった。

　彼は多くの人々の為に涙する為に、彼の最も近い存在であり、最も彼をよく理解した妹の死を涙することが出来なかったのだ。
　
　彼の純粋なそしてひたむきな、ある意味宗教的な願いは、この詩集を読むことによってその多くを理解できるだろう。
