1967(昭和42)年神奈川生れ。魚座。早稲田大学第一文学部卒業。’90(平成2)年「幸福な遊戯」で海燕新人文学賞を受賞しデビュー。’96年『まどろむ夜のUFO』で野間文芸新人賞、2003年『空中庭園』で婦人公論文芸賞、’05年『対岸の彼女』で直木賞、’06年「ロック母」で川端康成文学賞を受賞(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

■書物にまつわる短編小説集。
■昔、自分が手放した本にネパールやアイルランドの古本屋で出合う「旅する本」、読書傾向が凄く似ていたカップルが分かれることになりダブった本をめぐる思い出を回想する「彼と私の本棚」など、幻想的な話から恋愛譚など、傾向は様々だ。
■表題作は、入院中の祖母に探して欲しいといわれた本を求めて奔走する少女を描く。その本の秘密とは―。いやあ、これは泣ける！

表題作「さがしもの」のおばあちゃんの言葉は、物事の本質を捉えていますね。
「旅する本」は日常に潜む不思議な世界に引き込まれました。
「彼と私の本棚」「初バレンタイン」に出てくる女の子が可愛いかったです。
「引き出しの奥」はあの後どうなったのかが気になります・・・。

「予定日はジミ−ペイジ」と並んで、角田光代さんの「陽」の部分を押し出している感じが魅力的です。「陰」の部分も捨てがたいですけれど、ね。

　中学校のときに、表題作「さがしもの」がテストか問題集に引用されていたことをふと思い出し文庫化新刊を購入しました。

　長編小説ではなく短編小説集ですが、どの作品も買ったことを後悔させないできでした。特に、「ミツザワ書店」では人物描写やストーリー設定がうまく、読みやすかった。

　角田光代さんの本は初体験でしたが、よかったです。
　小学生から大人まで楽しめる読みやすい本でした。
