父が娘を誘拐して、別れた妻に要求を突きつける。こう書くと暗い話なのかと
思うが、この作品に暗さは感じられない。淡々と親子の旅の様子が描かれている。
旅を通してしだいに親子としてのつながりが深まっていくさまは、ほほえましい。
ハルの冷静な観察眼に、ちょっとドキッとさせられる部分もあるが。
読み進めていくと、やはり父親がハルを誘拐した動機が気にかかった。
娘を誘拐してまでしなければならない要求とは？漠然と、この作品の良し悪しは
そこだ！と思っていただけに、ラストは期待はずれ。ちょっとがっかりした。

中学１年の僕は、いつも本を買っても途中で挫折していて、なかなか１冊読み終える事はありません（＾＾；）。しかし、この本は違いました。中学受験の過去問の文章で読んで、面白いと思い、家で見つけて読んでみると、ものすごく面白く、あっさりと最後まで読めてしまいました。その最大の理由は、出だしの書き方が、興味を誘うような書き方がしてあった事だと思います。普通の本なら、出だしのところでアウト!なのですが、この本は、いきなりお父さんに誘拐されるところから始まり、最後には感動的なお父さんの言葉が…本当に面白かったです。

少女を誘拐したのは、実の父親！父と娘の、せつなくホットな誘拐旅行。とんでもないダメ父親と冷めた娘だが、娘とのやりとりは友達感覚で、読んでいて楽しい。
２人の叙情あふれる一夏が、ユニークな文体で書かれている。親だからこそ、語ることができる厳しさがある。ラスト、ちょっぴり大人になった娘の一言がいい。
