太宰は若いときにかかるはしかのよう。
とは言い古された言葉ですが、
私も太宰には中・高とはまりました。
世にあるイメージでは「人間失格」や「桜桃」の虚無的なイメージなのでしょうが、
太宰は意外にかるみと明るさのある人であったな、と、大人になった今は思います。
私が始めて読んだ太宰は「正義と微笑」でした。
前向きな、さわやかな青年の姿がかかれています。
しかし、その底流には、病気と闘っていたり、繊細な心でいろいろなことを考えたりといった、陰の部分もあるわけです。
この小説を読むと、何かと戦いながら、軽やかな明るさをつかんでいく
青春の姿を感じます。
まるで夜明けの寂しい明るさのようです。でも、そこには希望の光が見えます。

太宰に対しては、この「正義と微笑」の中にあるような
「ほのかな希望を描いている部分」がこのごろは好きになっています。

特に「人間失格」から太宰に入った方に勧めたい一冊です。

本書には「正義と微笑」と表題作「パンドラの匣」が収められていますが、
どちらも、とても清々しく感じました。

まるで青春のお手本のような作品です。

やはり「人間失格」が、私の中で太宰のイメージを決定づけていましたが、
こういった作品も書けるのだなと、新しい太宰を発見したような気持ちになりました。

文豪・太宰治の文章は、とても言葉で言い尽くせないほど、レベルが高くて、
この文章に触れられることに喜びをおぼえました。

学生の方なら誰しも必ず共感できるんじゃないでしょうか。
わたしもこの本を読んでずいぶん励まされて来ました。勉強することののよさがわかりました。人の十倍も、必死で勉強してやろうと思いました。

さすが太宰と言いたくなるような引き込まれる文章です。1つ1つの文章の締めのほんとうに何気ないような一言が、妙に重かったりして色々考えさせられました。
正義と微笑の主人公もパンドラの匣の主人公もほんとうに若いのに何もかもが立派で、自分と何度も比べてひとり反省したりしました。

たしかに、明るい。けれど、明るさの中に苦しみが詰まっているような作品じゃないでしょうか。
