太宰治と聞いて、暗そう、むずかしそう、めんどくさそう
と思っているそこのあなた！
この本は違います。
よく聞く昔話（かちかち山、浦島太郎など）や
井原西鶴の諸国もの（江戸の人情話など）をベースに
太宰治が自由に想像力を膨らませ語る物語は
ストーリーが非常に面白い！
かといって、ストーリーの展開だけで読ませるものではなく

細かい表現まで、何度も納得できるところは
さすが文豪といったかんじです。

太宰といえば、人間失格や斜陽、走れメロスといったものが
有名ですが、
このお伽草子は　読みやすさに面白さ、そして文豪ならでは！
と納得できる文体の意味深さ、があって
ほんとうに　おすすめです。

何か、太宰の作品を読まなくてはいけないとか、読書感想文に
いわゆる大物の作品を読まなくてはいけない場合にも
この本は　ほんとうに　うってつけなのではないでしょうか。

　前半の話は武士道、義理、人情、放蕩、などを題材にした説話をアレンジしたもの。示唆に富むが話は軽快でおもしろい。読んで気分が滅入る話がないのが心地よい。
　後半は皆がよく知っている御伽草子を当時のモダン（？）にアレンジし直したようなものや、筆者なりに解釈して「大人向けの再話」を施したものであり、ややブラックなところもあるがリズミカルな調子で物語は進みます。
　さすがに文豪、時間を忘れて読んでしまいます。されど所々で三島由紀夫など自殺した人達に共通する、そこはかとなくする危うい感じは気のせいだろうか。

5.0 out of 5 stars 太宰によって支えられた日本文学, 2003/8/17
戦時中に防空壕の中で書かれたというこの作品は、＜私が書きつづける限り日本文学の火は消えない！＞といった意気込みがうかがえ、本編に入る前の部分を読んだだけで、精神の傑作という言葉が浮かびました。

本編も期待にたがわぬ快作でした。特に「瘤取り」の最初のところが私は好きで、カタカナから散文に移り再びカタカナに戻る、ジャズでいえばカタカナがトリオ演奏で散文はソロ。そのタイミングが抜群でゾクゾクしたものです。

個人的に、太宰作品の中でベストなのであります。
