びっくりするほどつまらい授業のときになんとなく読みはじめて、読みはじめるとすぐに自然に引き込まれた本でしたが、あまりにも退屈でちょっと暗い印象さえあった教室で、文章の鮮やかな印象に打たれたのをはっきり覚えています。

川端康成作品の硬質で端的な美しい文章には、情景をくっきりと描いて読む側にとても鮮やかな強い印象を残すようなところがあると思います。淀みのない美しさは特別で、考えるよりも実感として直接打たれる感じです。まったく失礼な話だけど、そのつまらない授業のときに「雪国」を読んでしまうと、こんどは「伊豆の踊子」を読んでまだ明るい鮮やかさに打たれたりしました。優れているといわれる作品の、本当の素晴らしさがわかります。

題名の通り好き嫌いがでる小説だと思います。
その原因は執拗なまでの形容表現。
それらを受け入れられか、受け入れられないか、が、この小説を楽しめるか否かです。
川端康成は自分が描いた世界を全力で読者に伝えようとしている。
わかるまで・・・わかるまで・・・これでもか、これでもか、と。
頑固オヤジの説教のような物です（笑）

性格的に言ったら気長な人ならこの小説を楽しめると思います。
私はかなり楽しめました。

　結末がわかっているのに何度でも手にとってしまう作品。そのような文学作品はいくつかあるとは思いますが、これもそのひとつかと思います。登場人物の心情の描写や風景の描写における表現が巧みでぐいぐいと引き込まれていきます。文章がとても美しいのでいつ読んでも新鮮な感動を覚えます。結末がわかっているのに何度でも読んでしまいます。

　学校で押し付けられるのが嫌でこのような素晴らしい作品から遠ざかっている人も多いことかと思いますが、気持ちを切り替えて読んでみることをお薦めします。詩や歌に接する感覚で向き合うのも良いかも知れません。
　受験や勉強を抜きにして、まっさらな気持ちで読んでみるとまたちがった面白さがあるかと思います。
