子どもにはとっつきにくそうな「落語」という堅めの分野ですし、表紙だけでは何が展開している絵本なのかまったく分からない。しかも、ＣＤつきなのでふつうの絵本よりもすこし高め。

そういう一見マイナスに見える要素を全部けちらすほど、ものすごく面白いです。
落語の、なんともいえないテンポのよさ、語呂のよさ、絶妙な掛け合わせ、それのどれもが、子どものたのしい笑いを誘います。方言や昔のことばがそんなには理解できなくても、その音だけで、もう楽しい。「もっと読んで」「何回も読んで」そういう欲求をすごくくすぐる絵本だと思います。実際に自分で精読していても、声にだして読んでしまいたくなる。

落語のおもしろさに加えて、絵が本当にいいですね。イメージしやすいように、それぞれのお話に合う絵が挿入されています。特に「んまわし」。本当におすすめ。

やはり、昔から受け継がれてきたものは、本当にすぐれたものを持っていますね。語り方、形を変えて、絵本になっても、その魅力は十分に伝わっています。
