・話し言葉で書かれている文章
・カラーで掲載されている浮世絵（数も多い！）
・欄外にある単語解説
・実物やイラストを用いた紹介例
などと、「読みやすさ」という観点からは非常に良いものだと思います。
作り自体が「教科書」を意識しているようなので、馴染みやすさを感じました。

ただ、それぞれの地域の風俗に対しては、「少しふれる程度で終わっている」ようです。
そのため、結果的に「広く浅く知る」ということになっているかのように思えます。
多数の浮世絵が掲載されていますけど、中身の風俗についてまで追求しているものが少なかったのは残念。
江戸を多少知っている人にとっては、物足りなさをが感じられるかもしれませんね。


入門書ということで考えるのならば、非常に良いかと。
ただ、テキストという観点で考えると、どうかな？って思います。
わざわざ話し言葉で記述する必要はなかったんじゃないのかなぁ。

じっと机にしがみついて読むというよりは、寝床に置いておいて寝る前に少しずつ読むみたいな感じで読んでます。
テキストの使い方じゃないな、これ。(^^;

江戸文化歴史検定の３級は８割、２級は５割がこのテキストから出題されると募集要項に明記されている。「試験で稼ぎ、受験用テキストで稼ぐ」が見え見えだが、どこでもやってることで文句は言えない。ただ、アンチョコに徹すればいいのに、なまじっか読んでも面白くなどと欲を出したため、アンチョコとしての効率はやや落ちる。その代り、読物としては味わいがある。ほどよく江戸の町を紹介している。地方の様子は余計であろう。
おかしな点もある。本書の中に「擬宝珠のあったのは日本橋、京橋、新橋」とあるが、新橋には擬宝珠が無かったはずだ。広重の新橋図を見れば分る。知人が本書の編集に記述の根拠を問い合せたら、執筆者は「大江戸八百八町」展(2003)の図録から孫引したとの答だったという。直接史料に当って欲しいものだ。他にもその図録から引用された記述は多い。検定試験受験者は江戸博売店で探してみてください。

江戸文化のおもしろさは、現代に通じるというか、
現代文化の源流が見えてくるところだと思う。
検定用にではなく、読み物として読んだが、それな
りにおもしろかった。
