「誰も行けない温泉」シリーズの第三弾、西日本編。これにて日本列島縦断完了ということで一応は完結編になる。第一巻の時は、単純に「凄いことをやってる！ありえねぇ！」という驚きと、その行動力に読者として感動すら覚えたのだが、第二巻あたりから著者のウケ狙い芸風が気になりだし、第三巻である本書に至っては個人的には耐えられないレベルにまで達している。秘湯を紹介しようというより、「どうです？僕って面白いことやってるでしょ？」というナルシスト的方向に文章がスライドしてしまっている気がしてならない。非常に大変な事をやっているだけに、その軽薄っぷりがとても惜しまれる。
第一巻で感動した人が「最後までこの旅を見届けよう」という主旨で本書を購入するのは正しいと思うが、いきなり本書から読み始めようとするとちょっと辛いかもしれない。

　「誰も行けない温泉」シリーズの第３弾で、いちおうの完結編。西日本の秘湯が取り上げられている。
　このシリーズのコンセプトは、常識人なら近付かないような温泉に入ろうというもの。第一は危険なところ。硫化水素がたちこめていてガスマスクをつけなければいけない温泉、酸性が強くて入ると刺すような痛みを感じる温泉などだ。第二は汚いところ。緑の藻で覆われた温泉、泥でべちゃべちゃになる温泉など。そして第三は恥ずかしい温泉。道路から丸見えの温泉、観光客がひっきりなしにのぞきこむ温泉など。
　どのページを読んでも爆笑である。写真やコメントがまた面白い。
　本書に紹介されている温泉は、よほどの精神力、危険対策、面の皮の厚さがないと入ることが出来ない。常人には不可能だ。温泉巡りのガイドブックとしては役に立たないので、ご注意。

温泉モノも探検モノも大好きで読み始めたのだが、
著者が苦労したり自然の危険さにいじめられる姿に
次第に快感を覚えるようになり、最後はマゾ系な読み物として
感じている自分を発見した。
シリーズ３冊を読み、
著者がここまでしてくれたおかげで、「るるぶ」などには
絶対載ってないレアな温泉を知ることができ、知見が
広がったと思う。
