5.0 out of 5 stars 読んでいて爽快感を感じる小説, 2009/7/18
江戸時代の鮨職人を題材にした本です。その題材を通じて描かれているのは、仕事を追及する人間の姿であり、友情であり、仕事を通じた人間関係であり、はたまた恋愛でありと、現代と変わらぬ様々な人間模様です。ドロドロした関係ではなく、あくまでも爽やかに、筋の通った、でもそれ故時には損もする、そんなちょっと不器用な人間が描かれている感じでした。でも単純に義理人情で押し通すのではなく、時にはビジネス的観点からドライに、両者を上手く織り交ぜながら描かれており、時代の異なる我々の生き方の参考にもなる印象でした。そんな登場人物を見ていると勇気付けられます。読んでいて爽快な読後感を味わえます。

今回は柿（こけら）鮨職人、舞台はいつもの深川界隈。鮨職人の新吉を主人公に大身旗本の家来の秋之助、魚の棒振り順平など多彩な登場人物が物語を盛り上げていく。一力ファンなら間違いのない1冊。
