小林よしのり著「台湾論」とともに読むことをお勧めする。

《本書出版への流れ》
「台湾人と日本精神」(単行本)出版
↓
小林氏「台湾論」執筆中に読み、感動する
↓
「台湾論」日本で出版(売上は30万部以上)
↓
「台湾論」台湾で出版するも大騒動となり、小林氏ブラックリストに載り、台湾入国禁止となる
↓
その余波を受け「台湾人と日本精神」販売中止となる
↓
この騒動についても大幅に加筆して文庫化し、小学館から再出版

素晴らしい、この一言に尽きる。
私が最近読んだノンフィクションの中で最も素晴らしい１冊だ。
特に後半を、息をのみ、むさぼるように読んだ。
涙なしでは読み終えられなかった。
自虐史観が戦後の日本人にいかに悪辣に植え付けられたか。
すべての日本人に読んでもらいたい。

国民党政府に乗っ取られた台湾ばかりではなく、日本においても日台関係の歴史をきちんと教えられたことはなかった。日本の歴史教育はある部分から完全に抜け落ちていて、それを補う意味で本書の意義は大きい。

小林よしのり氏が書いた「台湾論」が有名になったが、台湾人の蔡氏によって書かれたこの本も是非とも読んでおきたい。若い世代にも語り継いでいく礎石になる本だと思う。
