臨終の時、故人への想いと感謝とともに、自らの過去を振り返り、生きていくことの切なさを綴る物語。
９２歳の藤崎松恵は、臨終の時を迎えています。
看取る人々（曾孫の東真、孫の再婚相手の美代子、花屋の店員史明、娘の奈緒子）は、
それぞれ松恵に救われた過去があります。
別れの時、松恵本人も含め、皆が過去に思いを馳せ、これで良かったのかと自問自答しながら、
生きるとは、生きていくとはどういうことかを描いています。

『バッテリー』が思春期の少年の心を描いた物語とするならば、
この本は、大人といわれる年齢になっても・・・という物語です。

松恵のように送られる最後が迎えられたらいいなとも思いました。

松恵さんは誰にでも優しくあったかいおばあちゃん.
彼女の存在によって救われた人はたくさんいます。
今、その松恵さんが死の時を迎え、生前の彼女にかかわった4人の人が彼女との思い出を振り返ります。

季節感たっぷりで繊細で美しい物語。
この世にあった魂が少しずつ浄化されて天にかえっていく・・・・・
その静かで神々しい雰囲気が十分に感じられる味わいのある文章。
柿のオレンジ、竜胆のムラサキ、キーワードとなるアイテムの色の鮮やかさも印象深い。

冒頭と最後の松恵さんの心の描写が美しい。
私もこんな温かい光が差す、いい日和に穏やかな死を迎えられたら本望です。
