プロモーション撮影で植田氏に感化され、写真にも真摯に取り組んでいるというエピソードは非常に好きなのですが、肝心の写真はというと…
ご自身の人の好さというか、ある種のナルシシズムが写真にも濃厚に現れているのですけど、その辺をどうとらえるかで評価は変わってくるように思えます。

ただ、値段が少々高いので、お勧め度としては辛めに評価しました。

個人的には

もう少し「作家としての自己」を作品に織り込んでもよかったのではないか？

とか

周囲の人間が求める「福山雅治が撮影するちょっといい写真」というステレオタイプに迎合しすぎているのではないか？

とか、そういうことを考えてしまいました。

とはいえ、植田氏は弟子としての福山氏のことを可愛がっていたそうですし、音楽のことを絡めてぼろくそに言う人のことなど気にせず、今後もがんばっていただけたらうれしいとは思います。

福山さんのファンで、写真展行った時なかなか良いなと思い購入しました。

確かに高い。気軽に買える値段ではないです。

それに写真のことはよくわからないし、技術的に果たして優秀なのか、
専門知識ある方の鑑賞に堪えうるかという判断はできません。

本人自身が語っているように、もともと世に出すためではなく、
自分の旅の記録として楽しんでとったものらしく、良い意味で力が抜けているように感じました。

芸術性を追求したり、問題提起をしているという背景がないので、分析したり、気負ってみる必要がない。
親しい友人からすごく良く取れた旅行写真を見せてもらっているようで、見ていてとても楽しい。

人それぞれ、好みがあると思うので何とも言えませんが、
純粋に作品を楽しめるという意味では、私にとってはとても波長のあった、いい写真集です

自分が行ったことのある場所がこんな風な表情があったんだ、と、驚かせられたり、
人物や動物が良い表情をしてたり、気がつくと十分元が取れた程、繰り返し開いています。


内容は大満足、ただ彼のファンというフィルターも少し入っていると思うので、星一つ減らしてみました。

多才な才能が垣間見える写真集。ライカでモノクロネガで撮った旅のスナップは、質感・色調どこか懐かしく、カルチェブレッソンやウィリアムクラインを彷彿とさせる。職業カメラマンとしてでなく気楽に片手間でさらっと、そこらの職業カメラマンよりも上質な写真を仕上てしまうところが、何ともかっこいい。短く記した旅への思いもいい。☆をひとつ減らしたのは値段が少々高いか。
