貧困やカーストといった重い問題を扱っていながら
声高にそれを主張するでもなく、行動するでもなく
ページをめくると、実に淡々とした印象の一冊。
しかしそれは流せる筋合いのものでもない。

指の骨が露出するほどの怪我をした子がいる。
治療費を渡す/渡さないで宮崎兄妹は話し合う。
目の前の偽善か、大義の前の小事か。
しかし彼らは翌日、再度その子に会いに行く。

本書にあるのは「行動」というより「視線」である。
若い兄妹の慣れていない目には、
長年NGOで働いている案内役よりも
新鮮に物事を捉える力を持っている。

願わくば多くの若い人たちに、世界を
「視て欲しい」というのが本書の希望であろう。
そう云う意味で本書は、若手女優の単純な
旅行記などではない。

フェアトレードに関心があって購入しました。
学校で学んだカースト制って、自分の中では教科書の中だけの話で、実際に今でも根強くカースト制が残っている所もあるのかと正直驚きました。また、普通教育を当然のように受けられる日本との差を改めて実感させられました。

普段、映画では一癖あるような役柄を演じることの多い、あおいちゃんですが、この本の中では本当に素敵な笑顔を見せています。
日記に関しては、あおいちゃんはいろいろ伝えたいんだけど、それをうまく表現できないもどかしさみたいなものを感じましたが、兄の将さんに関しては的確に表現していて、共感できる部分がたくさんありました。

日本も完璧な国とはいえないけど、パズルで例えればインドは足りないｐｉｅｃｅがあると思う。その穴を埋められるようなアクションを今後していく必要があると感じた。

宮崎兄妹が、カースト制によって、教育もまともに受けられないで困っている地域に行き、子供達との交流の様子が写真と兄妹のすれぞれの言葉で綴られている作品です。
妹のあおいさんは以前にも「祈り」で中国へ旅に出ていますが、今回はそれを兄妹そろっての取材の様子が伺える作品になっています。
子供たちと宮崎兄妹との素朴なやり取りが見てとれる写真集です。
