ただ、ひたすら寿司の握り(軍艦巻き)と、その魚(貝)が実際に泳いでいるところが100ページほど延々と載っている。名前の由来、名産地、旬の時期、味など解説してある。こういうネタもあるんだというような再発見もある。手にとってしまうと寿司屋に行きたくなる。

アニメ「あたしンち」でも紹介された本書。ネタにされた生物が延々と紹介されている。自然界で実際に泳いでいる写真は、生物の生とは死とは、食物連鎖とは、考えさせられる一冊でもある。

1ページに１種類、寿司とそのネタとなった魚介類の生きている姿の写真が掲載されている。
生き生きと泳いでいる生体写真の隣に寿司の写真･･･。シュールな感じもする。

寿司についてのコメントについて。さらに、魚の写真を撮った水中カメラマンが語る撮影秘話もあわせて読めて面白い。特に撮影秘話はどんなところにいるのか、撮影時の苦労話などが読め、普段なじみのない魚にも親近感が沸く。

寿司ダネについては、イカだけでも5種類も載っているのに驚く。なじみあるネタの以外にも梅干しやフカヒレ、アロエ、芽ねぎなど珍しい寿司も載っていて、全国にはこんな寿司もあるのかと感心すること必至です。

光り物や白身の見分け方について、また、味についても言及があれば尚、よかったなと思います。すきやばし次郎旬を握るが千円以内であることを考えると少々高い気もしますが、ボーっと眺めて楽しめる本です。
