落合氏の書籍の中でも、本書はカラー写真が多様されているなど、スーツ好きな方には眺めているだけでも楽しいと思います。コンパクトな本ではありますが、要所を押さえており、シンプルにまとまり、気軽に読むことのできる書籍です。

落合正勝という名前はペンネームなのだろうか？本名なのだろうか？
本名だったら名は体を表すということだろう、「正しい事（正義）に勝ることなし」というふうに読める。
世の中正義が一番善い事とは限らない、正義の美名の下で犠牲になる事もあるのだ、それが資本主義社会ならなおさらである。
作家の宮崎学氏は「『正義』を叫ぶ者こそ疑え」という本を著しているが、そのなかで正義とは「少数派排除の白いファシズム」であると語っている。落合サンも「ファッションは政治である―モードに秘められた権力の構造」という本を著しているが、何をか言わんやである。
本書では数々の「正しい事柄」が出てくる。これ以外は異端なのである。
だがちょっと待って欲しい、最後に出てくる「浴衣」と「下駄」だけは正しいどころか完全な的外れであり間違っている。
浴衣と下駄のどこが「『紳士』と呼ばせる服装術」なのだろうか？
弥生時代の遺跡からは「田下駄」という「農作業用の履物」が出土しているし、古代の日本には下駄や草履のまえに立派な靴もあった。これは奈良県の藤ﾉ木古墳から出土している。もともと下駄とは作業用の履物のことなのだ。
浴衣に関しては説明するまでもないだろう、まさかタキシードやディレクターズ・スーツと並んで日本の正装とまでは言わないだろうが・・・
浴衣に下駄では下っ端のお相撲サンである。
どこの国でもファッションの正統性は歴史が証明している。
和装の正装では雪駄が正しい。とまでは言わないが、下駄では・・・？？？

2.0 out of 5 stars なるほどと思う薀蓄もあり, 2005/2/6
ネクタイの長さを体型にあわせて、事細かに説明するところなど、なるほどと思う薀蓄もあり。
ただし、対象を絞りきれてない感じにする本であった。
スーツの初心者向けなのかとも思える箇所もあれば、中上級者向けの着こなしも載っている。
仮に、対象を全部網羅しようとしたのならば、ネクタイの結び方が載っていないのでは、初心者にはあまり役に立たないのでは？
