　ブリティシュ・トラッドについて多くの著作を持つ筆者が､ベーシックなトラッド・アイテムを30項目取り上げ､それにまつわるエピソードや歴史を豊富な写真を用いて読みやすく解説している。また､他の服飾に関する一般書籍と異なり､各アイテムの代表的なブランド商品を入手先も含めてカタログ的に取り上げており､かなり商品知識を具体的にもちやすいものになっている。
　その意味で､体系的にワードローブの基礎知識を伝えつつ､月刊のファッション雑誌との隙間を埋める数少ない一冊といえよう。

　ただ､97年出版の商品価格などには､多少の古さを感じる側面も否めない。しかし､選択された商品自体は普遍的な正統なスタイルを持つ定番商品なので､その存在価値は未だに色褪せることはない。むしろ流行の中で輝きを失わない本物の商品を､著者により新たに理解することができよう。ゆえに､経年もこの本の情報価値をそれほど損なうものではないであろう。

　目で見て楽しい本であるから、価格的にも良心的であり､「MEN'S　EX」や「MEN'S　CLUB　DORSO」を読まれている方には､他のサライシリーズの「紳士の小道具」（ISBN:4093430217）と併せてお薦めである。雑誌の商品解説とは少し異なった､サイド・ストーリーを楽しめるはずです。
