家族や友人を捨て、ミスター・クレプスリーと共に生きていく道を選んだダレン。新しい友人を求めて、二人はシルク・ド・フリークに戻ってきた！！　ここでダレンの友達になってくれたのは、きさくな蛇少年・エブラ！　そして近所に住む人間の少年とも友達になれて幸せなダレン。だが、そんな幸せな時間は長くは持たなかった。がんとして人間の血を飲まないダレンは日に日に弱っていき……。遅れてきた団員コーマック・リムズの合流を待って、ショーは始まった。そしてそれは悲劇の始まりだった……。　クレプスリーとダレンの微妙な間柄が必見。そして、この第二巻は、かなりダーク。生きるということの――何かを犠牲にして生きるということの、本当の意味を、知ってください。

ダレン・シャンの本は、次が絶対読みたくなる本です。クレプスリーのさりげない優しさとかダレンの友情とか心が惹かれるばかりです。最後は決してハッピーでは終わらないけど何か得る物があります。そこが楽しいのです。

１巻に続いて、またまた面白くすいすいと読めました。
１巻で出てきた登場人物が再び出てきたり、主人公が大きく成長したりと読みごたえのある１冊でした。
